The Matthews Opera House and Arts Center in Spearfish, SD is excited to announce that their Summer Art Series will be unveiled on May 19 with an opening reception from 5-7 pm. This showcase features the talents of Black Hills artists with an incredible display of high-quality pieces on exhibit.
This opening night event is offered free to the public. Hors d’oeuvres and a cash bar will be available.
The Summer Art Series is open to the public through Labor Day during regular business hours, Monday – Friday, 10 am – 5 pm. The series is structured to support the local artistic community with every piece in the gallery ready to sell and take home the same day.
Ed Gallucci along with other Kansas City Art Institute alum has donated a current work to be auctioned off at an event on KCAI’s campus. The auction will take place on June 4 from 7:00 pm – 10:00 pm. All proceeds benefit the KCAI Fund and support student scholarships.

“Western Stars” is a documentary / concert film starring Bruce Springsteen playing songs from his latest album and musings about life. The film will premiere at the Toronto Film Festival in September 2019 and features Ed Gallucci’s photograph of Bruce Springsteen when he was just starting out as young musician.
Horn From The Heart: The Paul Butterfield Story is a feature-length documentary about the life and career of legendary blues musician Paul Butterfield. A white, teen-age harmonica player from Chicago’s south side, Paul learned the blues from the original black masters performing nightly in his own back yard. Muddy Waters was Paul’s mentor and lifelong friend, happy to share his wisdom and expertise with such a gifted young acolyte.
